I know I’ve been absent lately and I’m really sorry but I really had to take a huge hiatus and focus on my setting the path on my career. I will make a special post announcement about what’s going on with my life and all the plans I have for the blog in the future ! But for today, I HAD TO REVIEW THIS BOOK. If you don’t know it by now, Illuminae has become one of my favourite books of all times.
I’ve mentioned the book in a few bookish posts already. Obsidio is the final installment in this trilogy. I will leave the links to the other two here:
I was very excited to read this book, that is why I know how you all must feel towards it. I will keep it as spoiler free as possible and it might sound SUPER cryptic (because I really don’t want to reveal ANYTHING) but know that it’s for your own good.
If you read the first two books, you know about Kady and Ezra but also about Hana and Nik. This is the book where they finally reunite and it cannot be more #squadgoals than this I swear. I love the way the authors bring these characters together and even get more room to introduce us to new ones. Yes, a whole new crew and a whole new dynamic but also it allows us to spend even more time with our already beloved characters. The development and depth of those characters is one of my fave things about this series. They are all unique and special on their own. If you didn’t see their uniqueness in the first books you will see it in here.
*a resume of how the authors wrote this book*
Amie Kauffman: Is this too much for them to handle?
Jay Kristoff: Fck it. Let’s put it.
Y’all remember how many emotions they make us live in the first two?! WELL, THIS ONE, I THINK THEY PRETTY MUCH THROW US ALL IN A NON-STOP EMOTIAL ROLLER COASTER. It’s always a life and death situation, my brain was constantly alert that something might happen or a trap around the corner (because we all learn from the past with all the twists and turns these two authors love to put inside their novels LOL).
Oh and. I cried. A LOT.
A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. The actions sequences were non-stop ! They really succeed at that Sometimes I found myself reading TOO FAST. I had to close the book, breathe a bit and remind myself that if I finish too fast my life will be over and there will be no more of this story.
One of the main reason why Illuminae became my favourite book is AIDAN character. I’m happy to say that the series starts with him and also ends with him too. We didn’t get to see much of him in Gemina. But in this book, he has such a deserving place and role that I felt obliged to put him in his own category. Because let’s all admit it, AIDAN is a phenomenon.
A powerful finale to an excellent trilogy! And just the book itself is a piece of art so it’s worth every penny ❤
Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada for sending me an advance hard copy to review :)!
