Two Can Keep A Secret by Karen McManus

DISCLAIMER: I haven’t read One of Us Is Lying by the same author and I was still able to read this book so yes, it’s a different story.

A book full of secrets that are just dying to get out

The funny thing with this novel is : the main climax and twist was quite predictable but I still enjoyed it. Adding to that, some moments were very slow paced but it was pretty fast paced over all and sill filled with thrillers. I love the atmosphere she was giving out in this book, Echo Ridge, a local town with its own set of creepiness and mysteries. I still think that some people can find a lot of twists and turns while reading this book and might enjoy it even more. The twins Ezra and Ellery are quite ordinary characters but also very relatable and vulnerable, which I really like about this book.

However, the overall experience was underwhelming and to be honest, I haven’t met a good thriller YA since 13 minutes, so this one was probably better than all the YA thrillers I’ve read so far but not the same quality level as 13 minutes in my opinion.

I think anyone who would like to pick this up, read about murder mystery in one sitting, you got the right book.

Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada for the advanced copy!

Honestly, two can only keep a secret if BOTH of them are dead 😉

One Of Us Is Lying got a lot of hype- my book club that I help lead at a middle school, loved it. So I’m anxious to know if this book will live up to it’s predecessor.

Aye, 13 minutes was the pinnacle of YA thrillers for me and I have not met a good one since! This doesn’t appeal but I did like reading yer review. Arrrr!

Sometimes even when it’s predictable the ride is still fun! I haven’t read this series for this exact reason – I was imagining solid 2 and half stars sort of situation – but it does sound entertaining if not exactly ground breaking.
