Okay so, I’ve been meaning to review this book for like over a year now LOL and now that we are all in quarantine, I finally remember to review it ! Yay Me 🙂 V.E Schwab has litterally put together all of the best YA fantasy features in a book. This series remind me a lot of Shadow and Bone, The Young Elites and Red Queen series.
5 things I love about this book:
— The Parallel Worlds of London : Red London, White London and Grey London. The choice of putting a color over each London is a genius move to illustrate the clashing philosophies of each territory and their view about the magical world.
— As much as the different Londons has their own philosophies and particular smells and flavors, so are the characters residing in each of them. Their fate will be entertwined with each other and the journey will make us hate and love them at the same time.
— There’s pratically no romance in this book, my hypothesis is it’s a slow burning kind of love and I’m really happy for it because rushing into a romantic relationship is what turned me off in a YA book (Yes it’s been over a year and I haven’t read the sequels yet LMAO).
— The action never stops, everything is felt so intensely while reading this book. We discover the magic and what it can do with the characters and although we think we know more than them, there’s always place for more surprises.
—The final reason I love this book resides in every book that V.E Schwab has ever written and that is her prose. She has a way with words that can adapt throughout different demograhic, different genres and she completely compelled me with this book.
